We have learnt fundamentals of resume making in the school. But it is a one of the daunting tasks for most of us. Either the person is fresh college graduate or the accomplished professional they find it troublesome while preparing their own CV. We will discuss some tips to build a professional CV / Resume.
In the beginning, we will categorise candidates in two groups viz fresher and experience. However, CV and Resume serves the same purpose they have intricate differences in their presentation. One can either prepare CV or Resume according to their job search and category of the candidate. Basically, if the candidate is fresher he / she should highlight his / her educational qualification and trainings, to demonstrate his / her competencies. Although, for the experienced individual their experience, accomplishments and responsibilities can be highlighted on their document.
While preparing a CV or Resume one has to keep in his / her mind their desiring job and sector. One might as well organise the content of the document in such a manner, that the recruiter or reader can find the desired information quickly and easily. The information which is more pertinent to the position should catch, the reader’s attention. One should not mention such relevant information in the midst of the document, otherwise it inches toward getting disregarded, and you will miss an opportunity to get shortlisted for an interview. This information should be visible for an employer to see your strength and talent connected to the desired position.
Fundamentally CV / Resume exhibit information in reverse chronological order i.e. the current experience and educational details are catalogued first. Profile Summary: This section consist the description of candidates whole career details, experience, qualities, and skills. If the candidate is a fresher, then he / she should mention about the skills or abilities inclined towards the job in question, which he / she gained during their professional training. In any case one needs to keep in mind the limit for this section; it should not be lengthy and mentioned same skills monotonously.
Education and Experience Section: These two sections are completely different, but their sequence in the document depends on experience. When a person does not have experience, then education section comes at the top and vice versa. In case if a person has part time experience or internship then also one should mention education section before professional experience. CV or resume is created to impress the recruiter hence the important or valuable information should be presented in the beginning of the document.
Personal Details: Well this section is not very important part in the document. But, if the recruiter is searching for a particular gender, age or national in the prospective candidate, then this information gains importance in the recruitment process. This section gives additional information about the candidate. One can keep this segment as an optional part in their document.
