The reason for some workers unionizing in 1970’s was because of the economic change where there was pressure to cut salaries of workers was being compromised. To cater and solve this problem without much fuss, the workers thought they needed to balance the situation, like a trade union. The goal was to talk on the issues like the employment, justice, pay fairness, health and safety of the workers.

These principles vary from the integrity and self respect of a person, to the opinion and point of view of an individual, the contrasting interests etc. These principles are the base of the strong practice that CASW ensures.
