Are you looking for a job in recruitment? Then great, you’re reading the right thing.
The recruitment industry is fast moving and continually evolving, providing job seekers with great employment opportunities. It’s a field tailored for those who enjoy listening to others, interacting with people face-to-face, and delivering bespoke requirements to achieve the utmost in customer satisfaction. Sound good? Then a career, or certainly a job, in recruitment is for you.
Within the industry, there are a number of different roles and companies that you can work for, from an ad agency, to being a head-hunter consultant, to be the recruitment specialist within a business. More often than not, roles will involve duties that reflect that of a job in advertising or sales, and will require that ‘killer instinct’ to help find that perfect candidate.
Here’s an overview into just some of the roles your might come across while on your job search:
Recruitment Consultant
You’ll most likely be working for a recruitment agency within this recruitment job. You may be specialist in a certain industry or location, for example in Construction or in Leeds. This will allow you to target a more specific clientele and candidate base.
Firstly, you’ll discuss with your client the type of role they’re looking to fill including information about the employee benefits i.e. salary, holiday allowance etc and information about the day to day tasks of the business. Your agency may have candidates registered to your company, or you may have to source them externally, and so you’ll use the information given to you to choose the appropriate candidate. Like most recruitment jobs, you’ll have to inspire the candidate, promoting the job role positively and showing them what a great opportunity it could be for them.
Head-hunter
This process is usually used for much more specialist, advanced roles, for example; a Managing Director vacancy typically uses a head-hunter to fill the vacancy. In this recruitment job, you’ll be working with both client and candidate on a much more personal level, possibly meeting them face to face to discuss the vacancy in depth. This process is usually much longer, with some vacancies taking up to a year to fulfil. The client will have very strict and extensive requirements that the candidate must fill and so you’ll need to assess the candidate’s suitability not just through qualifications and experience, but also through their personality and future aspirations, analysing if they’ll be suited to the company culture dynamic. This job in recruitment involves a lot of work but typically evokes a high commission once a successful candidate is placed and the client is satisfied.
Recruitment jobs will vary according to the type of recruitment organisation you’re involved in but the knowledge of the recruitment industry should help ensure you know the best approaches to continue your job search.
