The Job of a Warehouse Manager

Warehouse personnel are crucial to any supply chain management exercise. When you go through any standard warehouse job description you will realize that they are responsible for a range of important activities such as overseeing the efficient, dispatch, receipt and storage of a plethora of goods such as raw material, food, clothing, manufactured parts, consumer goods, medicinal items, etc.

  7. Interacting and engaging in sales enquiries and other follow up communications that are received by email, phone or fax.
  8. Maintaining and updated stock control system
  9. Planning to accommodation future capacity requirements
  10. Arranging to recruit and train the staff.
  11. Monitoring overall performance of stave and finding ways to keep them motivated.
  12. Encouraging team work and ensuring productivity with an aim to meet organizational targets.

In addition to this, the warehouse manager is also responsible to develop reports on a regular basis to communicate with the head office, make visits to the customers for feedback and ensure all quality standards are met with and oversee the maintenance of all machinery and equipment that is being used in the warehouse.
